Maureen worked as an English as Foreign Language teacher in Tongcheng, Province of Anhui, China at Tongcheng Teachers College. Relationships with Maggie, Chinese female colleague and students developed with generosity and patience.

Simply said on being Irish, Maureen becomes Irish from her mother with grandparents' emigration from Northern Ireland, and later able to obtain the Republic of Ireland passport. In recent
autumn 2023 trip to return to her homeland, Maureen visits her grandmother's homestead from where she departed with husband and small child to set up her new world abroad in small Saskatchewan farming community.
Maureen continues enjoying travel across Western Canada much to the delight and envy of her Northern Irish large extended family.
